Seveso-III Directive

The Seveso-III Directive (2012/18/EU) is an EU directive regulating the handling of hazardous substances in industry to prevent major accidents and mitigate their consequences. It is named after the severe industrial accident in Seveso, Italy, in 1976.

The directive applies to facilities that store or use certain quantities of dangerous substances, requiring strict safety measures such as risk assessments, safety management systems, and emergency plans. Additionally, affected facilities must inform the public and authorities about potential risks and establish measures to limit accident impacts. The directive aims to protect human health and the environment in industrial activities.

The boTec data integration platform supports the Seveso-III Directive by centralising risk assessments, safety plans, and emergency measures, enhancing protection for people and the environment in industrial facilities.
